Question

Is saying bye haram since people say it is about worshipping popes?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Saying bye in no way is haram and merely falls under the ‘urf’ (custom) of people. It is not the sunnah way of bidding farewell since that is done through giving salam. However, it is not considered haram at all.
