Question:

We learn that one of the conditions of Salah is that a person's clothes should coonceal the Awra, and the clothes should not be tight and transparent.
However, what exactly is meant by tight clothes?
If a person work in a company and he is required to wear a suit, and he wears trousers and a shirt, does that constitute tight clothing?
If a person wears a tracksuit, is this tight clothing?  What about jeans?

 Answer:

Bismillah

The awrah or private area of a ma during salah is that which is between his navel to the end of the knees. For a free woman it is her whole body except her face, hands and feet. (Nurul Idah p.123)

To wear such tight fitting trousers, which reveal the shape of the private area in salah, is Makruh and against the etiquette of salah.

Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) in the Holy Qur'an says,

"O Children of Adam! Take your adornment during every prayer." (Surah Al-Aaraf v.31)

Offering salah in transparent clothes is forbidden as it visibly describes the skin underneath.

Saaiduna Abu Huzaifah raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said “There are two types of the dwellers of Hell whom I did not see.  People having flogs like the tails of the Ox and they would be beating people with them and the women who would be dressed but appear to be naked, who would be inclined to evil and make their husbands incline towards it.  Their heads would be like the humps of the bukht camel inclined to one side.  They would not enter paradise and they would not smell its odour, whereas its odour would be smelt from such and such distance.”   (Sahih Muslim p.205 v.2)

Clothing which embodies one's private parts and describe their shape and size will constitute to be tight. Clothing’s which visibly describe the skin underneath will be considered as transparent. It is preferable to wear loose clothing for salah.
