Question

Assalamu Alaikum. I am having a knee problem after getting from sajda without the support I can’t get up. I put a chair In front of me I hold the chair with two hands and get up and continue my Salah. One friend told me this amal kaseer and send your fatwa in Salah three times itching beard in valid Salah.

What I understand from your fatwa unnecessary act doing will prohibit with one hand and if it done with two hands invalid Salah. Kindly reply with your fatwa must include a reference from Sahih Hadeeth.

Answer:

A’ml Kathir invalidates the salah. The is a difference of opinion with regards to the definition of A’ml Kathir. One definition is that which is done with two hands generally. However, the most correct definition is, if someone was to observe the person praying from a distance if the observer is not in doubt (he is certain) that the person praying is not in salah, that is a’ml kathir which invalidates salah and if he is in doubt, it doesn’t invalidate salah. (Al-Fatawa Al-Hindiyah, Dar Al-Fikr, Vol.1, Pg.160.

Based on this definition, as long as your action isn’t excessive to the extent that an observer would think you are not in prayer, your salah is valid.
