Question

Salam. I have a question about  نهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن النعي . Imam Tirmidhi says:

النعي عند أهل العلم ان ينادي في الناس بأن فلانا مات ليشهدوا جنازته . What are the limits to this?

There are some people in the community who send text messages for every death they hear about, regardless of whether they are acquainted with the deceased or not.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is not a problem to announce the death of someone when it is not done in an inappropriate manner. The prohibition is about the manner it was done in the Jahilyya with screaming etc.[1] Therefore, sending messages is not a problem and is even recommended because it will increase the number of people who will pray janaza.
