Question:
Assalamualaikum,
I was hoping I can get some help with regards to a theological concept and what further detail can the Islamic jurisprudence provide around going astray in the month of Ramadan.
I have been taught, (although still remains unsubstantiated so I am happy to be guided on this) that iblees is fully restricted from leading us astray.
Resultantly, I wanted to get the understanding from Quran and Hadith, as to why are muslims still deviating from the religion in the holy month, and are not being led astray?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Shaytan is not the only force that convinces people to commit sin. The Nafs of a person also compels them to commit sin.[1] For some, it may even be the primary driving force. So, while one driving force may be gone, the other remains, and thus the desire to commit sin continues within those who are accustomed to it, while those who seek to do less sin find less compulsion to commit sin than they would outside of Ramadan, making it a key time to develop one’s Taqwa and self-control.[2]
Only Allah ﷻ knows best.
