Question:
My question is that meat that has been slaughtered according to shariah and then cut into pieces with utensils (knives or saws etc), does that meat become haram to consume by a Muslim even if he washes or removes the meat edges met by the said utensils above?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
It is very important to be conscious with regards to eating halal. It is a sensitive matter in the Shariah. The acts of worship are affected if a person consumes haram.
When buying meat one should be cautious. Cross-contamination happens very often and non-Muslims don’t care about this.
If the utensils were clean then it would not affect the meat. However, if the utensils were previously used to slice haram meats, then we will not say that the halal meat now becomes haram but it will be contaminated.
If it is then washed properly and one feels that the haram that touched was removed, then it will be halal and can be consumed. As Muslims, we should be careful and try to buy meat from only halal stores.
