Question:
How much fidya is it for missed salah for an older person?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Thank you for your question, we ask Allahﷻ to make things easy and forgive any of our shortcomings and those that we love.
There is no fidya for missing a salah whilst one is alive, it must be made up in whatever way they can to the best of their ability – if they are able to stand, do ruku and prostrate they should do so, otherwise if they are unable, they may pray sitting with gestures. [1]
The fidya for when someone passes away is half a sa’ (2.25kg) of wheat or its value which one should check at the time of paying. [2]
Thus, whilst one is alive, they should strive to make up any missed prayers, however once one passes away they may pay Fidya.
